How MCP Works
MCP is an open standard that allows applications to communicate with AI agents. MT5 publishes its capabilities as a set of tools, and the agent calls upon them to complete your requests.
MCP works both ways. You can connect an external MCP client, such as Claude Code or Codex, to communicate directly with MT5. Inside the platform, the built-in AI Assistant panel offers the same access in a chat format. No plugins or bridges are needed, as MT5 speaks the protocol natively.
Where to Find the Assistant
- In the platform: The assistant explains current market conditions for a symbol, reviews your open positions and trading history, and answers questions about instruments and recent market events.
- In MetaEditor: It generates trading bots, analyses existing code, highlights errors and suggests fixes, explains algorithms, and assists with refactoring.

Simple One-Step Setup
Sign in to the platform with your MQL5.community account to automatically receive the free MQL5 Lite plan. The platform selects MQL5.community as the default AI provider and adds the required API key. Alternatively, you can use your own keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, Ollama, or other supported providers by selecting your preferred model in the platform settings.

How to Enable the AI Assistant
- Download or update the desktop MetaTrader 5 platform to the latest build.
- Sign in with your MQL5.community account.
- Open the AI Assistant from the File menu or the toolbar.
No manual setup is required. Signing in grants you the free MQL5 Lite plan and automatically configures the default AI provider and API key. You can also connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, or Ollama key via the platform settings.
