S&P500 enjoying increased risk appetite
The S&P500 index was up almost 2.5% on the week. The gains were largely attributable to a combination of a pause in the Fed's hawkish monetary policy and increased investor appetite for risk. As an American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) survey showed, last week the bulls outnumbered the bears by the highest amount since November 2021. Strategists at Goldman Sachs increased the S&P500's end-of-year price target from 4000 to 4500 points. Investor optimism is buoying the index.
